A damn useless fairy boy. He is as likely to disobey orders as he is to follow them, and he don't have that Lucanic gleam in the eye when he salutes. Figures, what with him being a damn high elf. You'd expect him to try harder than usual to fit in, though.

Assigning him to the Dawnstrider boy was a mistake. That weak, fairy Knight only strengthened the bad instincts of Squire Felanthar.

At least Feltanthar has proven himself to be somewhat useful to the unit lately, killing some of the people he was told to kill. He is an efficient killer, even if he is not indoctrinated in Lucanic ideology. Therefore I have decided to accept his recommendation of promotion, and get him his Knights' badge next time we meet.

Knight Feltanthar. He's a tad confused at times and even talks back when given orders. The Teir'dal shakes his head in amazement at this. Someday, he'll learn that if you just say 'Yes, sir," it will be alright, but if you try to argue with orders, they get worse. I wonder how many laps it will take...

Aev can hold his drink with the best of them. I got extremely drunk in his company and I'm guessing it must have been a fun time for us both because I can't remember a single thing about it! The only thing I am certain of from that night is that we've developed an accord, and he trusts me somewhat. He also seems deeply conflicted and beset by people who take advantage of him constantly and he seems unable to do anything about it. All I can do is offer him a shoulder to lean on.

It took me a while to place this one. He was the feisty prisoner that I assisted in returning to the Knights of Freeport. I arranged to try him, but another arrived expressing an interest. Since I do not have him, he is unimportant to me.

Aevarion, he throws me off. Not quite sure how to work around him. He acts all friendly and crap and I'm gonna have to be careful not to let my guard down around him. He's still KoF and I'm not about to trust him. It could be just another game. It's always games with this lot. *grumble*

Knight Feltanthar continues to perform as a marginally competent soldier. He don't talk back as much as he used to be, which is a good thing I reckon. He's bringing in some twin, whom he claims is less of an annoying pissant. That twin better be, as I aint got no time to housebreak another high elf.

I wonder if he is ready to take on more serious jobs. Some initiative in pursuing pro-Lucanic goals might endear me to him more.

I met Knight Feltanthar just yesterday. I was the only one able, willing, or maybe foolish enough to answer his pleas for information about the previous night. He seemed friendly enough, though it could just be that he was clearly very unwell. I did what I could for him before I left, but I heard later that he’s in rather a lot of trouble.

It’s probably his blood I’ll be cleaning up next, which seems a shame. Pleasant Koada’Dal are few and far between, and this one was much more agreeable.

Eh? Oh, this guy... *the Kerra shakes his head and makes a dismissive noise* I don't know what his problem is, but lemme tell you something. He's thick as a yard of lard.

So, there was this dust up outside the Mummy the other night, see? And that one guy from the Knights, Dawid or whatever is staring down some pals of mine with some pals of his. Lots of sneering but not a lot of fighting. Posturing and time wasting. Anyway, Dawid orders for some pies to be brought. And you don't need to have read the weekly funny papers to know what he was planning with them. So this moron Aevarion or whatever his name it, the one you asked about? So he goes and gets the pie!

I mean, I tell 'em, 'Pal, no conflict has ever been settled with baked goods." Not that he listens. *he shakes his head again* Sure enough, the pies start flying. And he gets his just desserts, heh, by taking a pie in the face. But I get splattered in the process.

And then he has the gall to act offended when I decked him! Weirdo.

Encoded in that little black book she always carries around:

Koada'Dal known as Aevarion Feltanthar. Capable healer - druidic variety? Did not, for some reason, allow Trulaf to die despite my broodmate's repeated insults and unbearable arrogance. Find out why...

Araxus sat at his usual table in the bar, drinking his usual vodka. Given the recent... developments... he had to take a moment to assess who was playing what side. His mind immediately wandered to the one who might have had the most potential of betrayal.

Dunno much 'bout him. He was a Knight an' 'at's 'nough t'raise a flag. He don't seem like th'kind 'ey'd sent t'spy on us, but 'ey rarely do. He seems t'have no troubles doin' what Dawid asks 'im.

The assassin shook his head and muttered, "Damned pies."

Gotta be keepin' an eye on 'im.

'Knights Feltanthars is a bads influences.'
The rain started almost on cue, drenching me to the skin before I’d even made it half way through Western Freeport. I didn’t much care. Nothing could have been more fitting.

'He’s a traitors.'
One foot in front of the other, keep walking, Bronnen. Eyes forward. Come on… You’ve been doing it for years, how hard can it be?

'I killeds him once, you knows…'
Simple rules. No work, no religion. Wasn’t too much to ask, was it? Not with me being a Knight. Not with him being an Ex-Knight. What you don’t know can’t hurt you.

Right?

'Should I walk away, Ma’am?'
Even back then the words sounded hollow. Was that worry in her eyes, even as she promised to help me find him?

'Walk away, and forget about him?'
You wish, you shallow bastard. Walk away from the attention, from the recognition? You won’t. You can’t!

'Life just got real complicated, real fast, Aevarion.'
First the comments outside the Mummy, now the attack on the Major… Didn’t take a genius to put two and two together, nor to realise just how much of a problem we had, both of us. Iltorio’s outburst drove away any lingering doubt.

'Perhaps I should just leave…'
No, don’t leave. The words died in my throat, and I just sat there on Eyna’s sofa while those damn monkeys chattered happily and he walked away.

'Aev? Take care of yourself. Please.'
That’s the truth of this Glass Elf. Not that he’s fragile, but that when I crushed him, I also cut myself.

'Do you know what hell your little boyfriend has put me through because of your shenanigans?'
Little? Are you blind, woman?!

Wait… Boyfriend?!

Damn it Eyna!

'Bronnen, I trust them.'
That’s great, really. But see, the problem is…

'And you think I can trust mine?'
Because I sure as hell think they’ll use any advantage they can in this, and I’m looking straight at you Aevarion.

'If they’re so bad, why do you stay with them?'
Bastard. Don’t ask that. Don’t ever ask that!

I punched him. Stupid Elf!

Complicated was a huge understatement.

((Thanks to Kikiriki, Eyna and Aevarion for the memories!))

This... high elf.

He seems much softer than most koada'dal, and this is not an insult coming from me. I do not mean soft in that gutless way that people fling sneeringly.

He is a healer. Healers by nature must have some sense of empathy or they end up doing far more damage than good when applying their talents. I think this is both a blessing and a curse to him, if I consider it for long.

He is an ex-Knight of Freeport. Bad, bad, bad, Aevarion... they are worse than rusted bear traps, and you might escape their initial clutches but the poisoning sickness that lingers from the wound may be more than even you can handle.

I worry for this one. I barely know him, but something... something is pinching a protective nerve within me when I see Aevarion. Like... a little brother. I don't even know his age, but I just get the sense of "little" brother in the affectionate.

He speaks of one knight, a Bronnen. It doesn't take a genius to deduce this Bronnen means something to him... and I am so sorry. Unless the gods somehow conspire to allow this healer elf some bit of happiness... an elf's life is far too long to sustain a broken heart indefinately.

... WHY do I feel such a familial affinity to him?? I can't afford close ties...

Aevarion... Now, meeting him is what I call a trick of Fate, and if fate has a shape, I am pretty sure she laughed at us the night he was drunk, and we bumped into each other. She is still watching, I bet, and waiting impatiently for the rest of the events we will weave together.

*Auros smiles longingly at the memory*

This koada'dal is very kind, and protective despite all proofs given, of the fact his dark side is also very consequent. He, surprisingly seems to accept me as I am, which is something I admit I have rarely witnessed, at least from beings I actually enjoyed the company of, and something I appreciate greatly.

We seem to be prey to bad luck often when spending time together, but it is not something that will make me back down easily, unless I saw it was causing too much trouble for us to handle. He seems to be very easily attracting said trouble, but then, so am I, despite all my attempts to keep away from it.

He is also quite handsome, and charming. I recently told him that he was a dangerous distraction, and the worst is, I meant every word of it, and know that it is true...He knows how to make me lose control of myself, and might be the death of me one day, but if he is, it will be one I am willing to face with a smile, and embrace warmly.

Aevarion is one out of few, that I know I can actually call a friend, and one I am particularly fond of. He did not truly show me this darkest side I've heard so much about yet, though, and I will wait eagerly until I am given the honor to witness it, or be it's victim. Our ties are fresh still, afterall.
~ "In it's darkest hour, this civilisation will see a new heir and saviour rise...The people, will respect him. They will have little other choice. And if I, can help him find his place, I won't hesitate." ~

My former Knight.

He has always been cordial to me, unlike his insipid brother, though it seemed he was in a rush to rid himself of me. No matter. He might have been afraid. Oooo, I certainly hope so! That'd be simply delicious!

There are times when I cannot sleep, and most often during these restless hours where my mind can only turn in on itself, I think of Aevarion. It is, I think, about time I sought him out once more, as this is the only way I will ever get over the guilt I feel whenever I think of him. Part of me clings to the hope that when I next see him he will attack me, that he will beat me until I beg him to stop, that physical pain will somehow repay the anguish I heaped upon him.

But this is Vari. He'd not hit me even if I begged him. And I might beg him, because pain is the only punishment I truly understand. I need to hurt for this. I need to suffer.

How many times would he need to hit me for destroying the happy, friendly Elf he once was? How hard would he have to strike me to make up for the fact that he is now a prisoner in his own home, unable to leave because his mind is so violated he cannot remember where he lives, because he cannot even remember which city he lives in?

I need to give the tiger to someone I trust. I am not sure I trust myself any more.

It is time to stop hiding and face up to what I did.
