History: Born as as illegitimate daughter of a well to do derv and his Mistress she was raised by an inattentive mother and sent to a school for the arcane outside of Freeport when she showed hint of magical ability. During her schooling she failed though most of her classes and was only kept due to a number of heavy donations from her “sponsor” until a lab failure led to the destruction of one of the schools wings. She was expelled and ran away taking up the life of a drifter. Her trail filled with clumsy mistakes and wanton destruction as her magical skill fluctuated. During her wandering she served under a number of magi, the most prominent a collection of witches in the desert of Ro. She studied many branches of the magical arts specializing in both ends of sorcery as well as countless other skills to complete the package. Her history follows a pattern of ebb and flow altering between being a public figure and an elusive recluse. Her work encompasses practically the entire spectrum of Magical Arts and her published work carries with it a degree of credibility within the fields of Arcane Science and her tales are whispered in the more occult gatherings of mages.

I ~like~ Lin and she has given me an invitation to come visit her. I haven't asked Mother if I can go yet though. I first met Lin when we were sitting on the hill outside Befallen and having a picnic with the teddy bear before Handsome Elf led us inside.I see her all thetime when Handsome Elf assembles us to go and kill stuff together and she's a wizard like Mother, but different. I like Lin, and I get the feeling she won't hurt me, and she isn't mean to me like some of the other Bloodthorns are. I think she could even help me with my reading too. She's rather talented that way.

Lin... *she rolls a red gem around in her fingers* she is a fiery one aye. Yet one who can be loving and kind to. She asked me to be her lady knight once, it was sweet and well thought. She got me to fall in love with her aye. As a lover recently told me, there are many different kinds of love. This one I don't think was ever meant to be.
She is beautiful, smart, cunning, yet she has a thirst for power that I have always feared may lead her to ruin. I hope that it does not.

I've run into this one once to twice; usually at the Raven. Seems alright, a bit on the quiet side. One of those sorts who walks into a bustling bar and sits down to start reading. Nothing against reading in general, mind you, but it seems like a waste of a good bar scene if you ask me. Anyway, I bumped into her once out in Lavastorm, tangling with this giant golem out on the shore there. Looked like she was having a rough go of it so I went to lend a hand. I wonder if she bites off more than she can chew often... if she does, I have a feeling that I'll probably run into her again before long.

In a way, I know Peralin as much by her lovers as by her own words, by watching her fight, and not fight, as by observing her in more quiet moments. I once thought of her as competition, and perhaps we are, in a very friendly way, though I certainly don't feel it any longer. She did at one time remind me very much that we are all cogs in the machine on some level. Every one of us can be replaced. Like Erithe, it wouldn't take much for Peralin to take my place, or I either of theirs.
That's all mechanics, though. I like her, she surprises me, challenges my expectations of her. She's alike me enough that she dares confront me with my own silliness, making me think about myself more than I usually like to. But that's alright, we all need to be challenged, and tempted. Peralin does both.
She, like many wizards, is driven, has a long goal she follows. She remembers that which many wizards hold most true:

Peralin. Mmhmm. That one is very interesting. She acts so quiet and proper in her lovely robes while she spins fire and ice out of the thin air. It doesn't fool me. I've seen what moves in her eyes when she thinks no one is watching, or when something really catches the attention of her very busy brain. The trick is going to be getting her to the point of getting to listen to what that brain is thinking about. It should be very worth the time and trouble -- I just need to find that time.

I once thought myself jealous of Peralin, but I realize it was just a mask of my own, for I was jealous of the other. I sought to hurt her, but instead found myself falling into her eyes each time I looked into them. 'Tis just like me, to find myself in such a mess. She is fire and ice colliding in a world of chaotic perfection. I do not understand some of her choices, but I know they are what she feels she needs to do.
I have made Lin promises that I intend to keep, promises I have made only one other before. These are promises I do not intend on making again, for a long time.
I find myself lucky that I feel the need to revisit this. Peralin is part of the path I finally seek.

Miss Peralin is very pretty, and she's very kind, and she's ever so wonderfully patient with me even when I should happen to make a mistake in my homework or accidentally open a portal which switches my sitting room with a piece of forest.
I should think I am very lucky to be Miss Lin's apprentice as she spoils me almost constantly with new wands, and pretty robes, and lots of hugs and kisses when I'm being good – which I, of course, always am. I wouldn't want to be bad and make her disappointed in me. I only ever want to make her happy.
Eclair seems to like her very much as well, and that is a very good thing as Eclair thinks most grown ups are boring pluffs or manxome beasties.
When I'm older I want to be a pretty Magus like Miss Peralin is.

Lin, meet her via Radiance. Have danced with her, fought with her, talked with her. She is truly an unique individual. One I am glad to see as a friend vice an enemy.

Such a pretty thing, and for hire. I like the way she looks at Addister and I. Is it wrong to find yourself in the stares of others? If so, I'll probably never be right. Pretty thing, and willing to think for hire. I wonder if she'd dye her hair red.

The plan has fallen through, and Peralin still lives. Yet, somehow, she still calls me friend.

This one is tall. Taller than Bacon's dear Big Crocodile. In the times that he has accompanied her on her duties, he has sometimes seen this Peralin. She has plentiful of what his Big Crocodile often calls, 'Chest Fruits'. Bacon does not know the significance of the shape of the chest or the relation to fruits. Fruits are not meat. Very few things not meat were worth any Consideration.
Peralin has always been well to Bacon. She does not make high pitched noises at him and run away. This is braver than he knows of most 'Finger Wigglies' (The term learned from his dear Big Crocodile). Does she have meat cubes to share, he wonders? The ones who do not run often do.

Some day, when the crisis of Absinthe is over, I will ask to have that discussion of alchemy with her. She knows much of many things and I cannot but thank her for the kindness she has shown to Fraise. Watching her scry for Eclair when the doll was hiding was impressive and I could see that Peralin wants Fraise to "grow up." I am not sure how successful she will be with that plan.
Perhaps I will get to know her better once she joins the Sigils. I do not think she will have any difficulty in the process.

Mistress Lin... sometimes I wonder if I made a mistake in choosing her as my instructor in the magical arts. And then I wonder if I chose her or if she chose me. She first presented me with a small library to read in order to catch up with those that would be my contemporaries. When next we spoke she told me that she could not offer me specific instruction because I had not yet advanced to a point where I could learn from her. I was crestfallen to hear it, but in a way it inspired me to go further. I began ranging out from my home and my city to better myself; to learn by doing. I've gone far and done much since then, and learned much as well. I wonder if that was what Mistress Lin intended when she turned me away that day or if I've surprised even her.
We shall see, but I have not wondered if I chose wrong for a very long time. I hope that I will be able to dispel any similar doubts that my teacher might have about me.

My Heart. My savior. We have been through much yet what we have between us will never fade. Our bond always seems to reconnect us not matter the troubles we endure. Words aren't enough to express how and what I feel for her. She alone knows what we share. As it should be.

There were these girls in the desert and they dressed in silks and gold and jewels and their hair would flow around them like it was water or maybe it was drifting in the air like ribbons, but they were so pretty and only you could watch and see that they were creatures like none in Freeport or Neriak or Qeynos or any other place but the desert and it made you want to be in the desert with them forever.

Oh wow... she... I don't even know her name, but that had to be the most embarrassing conversation I have ever had. I must have been the deepest shade of scarlet ever, but she didn't care. She kept pushing and pushing. But I'm sad for her, I think. When I told her my boyfriend was perfect, she seemed... I don't know... regretful? And said that all of hers were flawed. I think she's a little lonely maybe. That's hard to imagine. She's... so incredibly beautiful, but I really do think she's lonely.
I hope she finds someone that will make her happy one day. But, in the mean time, I think I'm going to avoid her.
I can't believe she asked me if Finnen was a good kisser. I thought I was going to die.

Peralin is the first person to call themselves my friend. I'm so honored.
I think Lin is crazy. But I mean, it could be argued that I, in my spirit-sharded form, am crazy too. I guess her sanity really doesn't matter to me. She's very kind to me, and shares her knowledge. She has introduced me to my new infatuation with lipstick, though I only tried it in the secret of my own home. She indulges me with her time and knowledge and I love it. I sense there is something simmering below the surface with her. Maybe as we become better friends, I can help her in return. I don't know. I can only hope to return at least a portion of what I've received from her.

Few make me realize the drawback of mortality like Peralin does. In what seemed like a day for me I watched her grow from a child, angry and petulant and standing over my bed with a knife, to the mage she is now.
She's changed in more than just shape, her mind is different in almost everything beyond the quest for more knowledge. And I can't help but feeling that she's lost something in becoming someone who craves attention, needs it, rather than an ink-smudged scribe with a quill in her hand.
He who lives by the sword shall die by my knife. A prophecy, if you like.

What does it gain you to grasp all the stars in the sky and horde them all if you have not anyone to give them to? Peralin is nigh-omnipotent, blessed with the... bounty of youth (though I have my suspicions about the application of glamour) and one of those mages who can give off the impression of renown simply by entering a room. Yet despite all of this, it seems to me that she is always grasping for more in life. It's never good enough, never well enough. Always more knowledge, more teasing, more acclaim. I am myself a very ambitious person but Peralin has appeared almost at the most opportune time to serve as an object lesson about excess.
She fancies herself a rival one moment, an ally the next, and she is never shy about her lascivious intentions. At each step, I deny her what she wants of me in that moment - call it fancy, but I am truly curious what she is capable of if denied for too long.
