Loriella

PostPosted: 18 Jul 2006, 12:39
by Loriella
Full Name: Loriella Mori'Dagnir
Nicknames: Lori, Songstress
Date of Birth: April 1st
Age: Young adult (mid 30s)
Race: Feir'dal, some Teir'dal ancestry
Gender: Female
Hair: Light blonde with fine strands of white and black woven through. Long and thick, she usually secures it in a series of three lover's haste knots at the back of her head, some pieces falling loose to frame her face. When entertaining, or in matters of diplomacy, she will adorn it with small jewels and/or flowers.
Skin: Darkly tanned from a combination of her heritage and her time spent outdoors in training. At the base of her spine, she bears an inked mark in the style of a Feir'dal shroud. Originally cast in black ink, the stylized harp design shimmers green, twining branches and vines to create a V-shaped instrument rising from the small of her back. The strings of the harp are cast in sparkling crimson.
Eyes: Crystal clear blue, though they sometimes darken to almost black during performances.
Height: 4'11"
Weight: Fluctuates between 85 lbs to 90 lbs, depending on how much she has been training and how much honied mead she has been drinking. She is below her average weight and quite thin presently.
Place of residence: Varies, most often seen in Freeport.
Place of Birth: Willow Wood
Known Relatives:
Grandfather: Zinthas Mori'Dagnir - She came to Freeport in search of him, to find him, and then to lose him again. A former shadowknight, he is now a troubadour.
Brother: Atros Shadowmaw - Twins, though they appeared dissimilar since his return from his journeys. Atros is a druid (like their half-sister, Tera), though he is seemingly colored by something darker. He has once again disappeared.
Sister: Teralysta Mori'Dagnir - A half-sister with whom she was recently reunited. Lori had left Qeynos before she knew her mother was expecting another child. Lori previously entrusted her sister with the care of her home in North Freeport, but now she has been missing for some time. Lori suspects she went off in search of Atros, but Tera is instead living in Neriak.

Religion/Philosophy:
She once leaned heavily toward Innoruuk, embracing the Father's Hatred, and had studied under one who claimed to be his most fervent disciple. In years past, she had proven herself to the Seraph and uncovered an ancient altar deep within the inner sanctum of Mayong Mistmoore. Her adherence to the religion of Hate has begun to falter, however, with the death of her mentor and other factors that have since come into play. Chaotic by nature, Lori eschews conformation to the rules of society. Though she had at one time attempted to fit in, she no longer allows the opinions or consensus of others to dictate her actions. She has begun to distance herself from the populace as a whole, preferring the company of a select few to the acceptance of many. While she regularly attends various taverns and functions, she has no qualms about freely speaking her mind.
Occupation: At present, she no longer performs for the public, having found that the ferocity of her songs are no longer safe for common consumption. Her songs fuck people up, simply put. Lori keeps her dirges to the hunt, but inwardly misses her time on the stage of the Soulfire. Recently, she has taken on a position with the shipping company, Pendulum, and has begun contemplating taking to the stage once more. She has a few pieces prepared, should any performers fail to show and she will have to grudgingly fill in.

Group/Guild affiliation: Pendulum
Guild Rank: Entertainment Coordinator
Enemies: Any enemy of Freeport, Thexians
Likes: Flowers, especially those that bloom in the late evening; the arts; turmoil, chaos, her blades
Favorite Foods: Fayberries
Favorite Drinks: Honied mead
Favorite Colors: White, light blue
Weapons of Choice: A hidden dagger strapped to her upper, inner thigh. Outwardly, she sports two short swords. She will use any bladed weapon that increases her combat ability and talents, so long as she is able to use it quickly.
Dislikes: Ignorance and prejudice, those who deny or suppress their darker nature (Qeynosians), waking up early, crowds, those who patronize or talk down to her. Two-faced assholes. Multi-tasking.
Hobbies: A connoisseur of the fine arts, Lori loves to sing, dance, sketch, and paint. She enjoys the pursuit of knowledge, poetry, and studies history and lore avidly. Though she does not remember, her Erudian step-father had begun to school her at a very young age in academia. She also loves to swim and actively seeks out waterfalls in secluded areas. She is solitary by choice.

Physical Features: Extremely agile, her early training in dance has given her an advantage in the field of battle. She is quick and small, though her form is not as lean as that of a trained assassin. Instead, she possesses an abundant amount of feminine curves. She would say her hair is her most striking feature, though it is instead her direct, clear eyes and her wide, full mouth. Round cheeks give her an ever-present youthful appearance, and she uses this to her advantage in many situations. A faint, thin white scar stands out in relief against her right cheek, a self-inflicted reminder.
Special Abilities: None, though she finds the ability to communicate telepathically to those with whom she establishes a connection intriguing. She is also fairly intuitive when it comes to identifying those who aren't quite mortal, due to her time spent around such beings.
Positive Personality Traits: Loyal and adaptable, Lori has worked very hard to learn the survival skills of Freeport. She comes across as a fairly outgoing and vivacious elf to most she encounters, though this is a carefully constructed deception.
Negative Personality Traits: Stubborn, opinionated, sensitive, and quick to anger. She also has a long memory and tends to carry a grudge. Lori can also be quite moody and oddly distant. She trusts no one and cares for very, very few.
Misc. Quirks: Possessing an odd sense of humor, she often uses wit to diffuse or divert attention. She has a nervous habit of biting the fleshy portion of her thumb when under duress. She finds it extremely hard to sit still and will often wander and get lost a lot.

Played by What Famous Person: Gwen Stefani
Theme Songs: Picking up Pieces - Blue October
History:Born in the Willow Wood, Lori does not remember her father. She and Atros were instead raised by their Erudian step-father, an exile of Freeport with whom her mother became infatuated. This former necromancer, though extremely intelligent, was also equally sadistic. As she grew older, he began to tutor her in other arts besides academic. When the twins reached adolescence, Atros was thrown out onto the streets and Lori had never thought to see him again, presuming him dead. The young girl took to the streets, avoiding her home whenever possible, and learning the ways of an assassin, though she wasnt very good at it. However, she was adept enough to surprise her step-father one night, cutting his life short with a well-placed blade and suffocation, after which she fled to Freeport in search of her grandfather.

So much more history... in editing process.

Fascinating girl. It would be entirely too easy to dismiss Lore as merely an entertainer or socialite; such a facile description would do her the same disservice as labeling Duvessa a mere innkeeper. She is one to be watched.

Loriella is someone I like a great deal, and that started out very much professionally, in that I appreciated her first as a bard, as someone part of the Soulfire's staff. I've had some time and times to deal with her, speak and get to know her, and from that, I come to appreciate her more as the woman she is.

You don't always know fully -why- you like someone, only that you do. I'm not sure just exactly what in Loriella I like, but it suffices that I do like her. That she seems to like me is much the same, I might imagine. Outside of professional similarities, she and I can be quite different.

And, my goddess, her taste in men sometimes leaves me baffeled beyond words. But, such things are the amusing little differences between people. Loriella is alive and vital, and now as I come to know her, more daring than I realize, and perhaps despite what some might see as her slightly submissive nature, I think she may yet find the will and the way to get all that she wants.

Loriella...rturned after a long absence. I must say, I am pleasantly surprised by this woman. I am enjoying her company much more now than ever before. WHatever happened to her in the interim, it was for the better.

The Songstress tugs at the edge of my consciousness like a very old, half-remembered song. She's not old, but her family is. Something about it is very old, and it bothers me that I can no longer pinpoint his face in my mind. It was a He, wasn't it? I can't remember. She reminds me of betrayal and elves and paladins and things that have no right being constrained by titles and professions. She is everywhere and doesn't really seem to belong to anything at all- not really, not completely. I do not know if we will ever be friends, as the word is meant to be used- but we are certainly not enemies, as much as she reminds me of a past that is fading too quickly.

She is a spitfire, truly, and I admire her ability to speak and do as she pleases. Her sense of humour and distaste for certain things are rather appealing, as well. Until a recent eve, I had though only positive of Loriella. Now, she has thrown me off balance. Nonetheless, I do wonder what lurks behind her eyes, though, and what her paths have taken her through. She intrigues me, and I hope to only know her better in time.

As my attentions that evening were..divided. I was meeting so many new people and it was a tad overwhelming and difficult to size each one up. This lovely girl was the least of my concerns..or so it seemed. Shes a "friend" of Tyrval I remember that. I will most definatly have to speak to her one on one, one of these days. I noticed that it might have seemed that she was a mere assistant of the Captains...however I believe she has more pull then it would seem. Maybe Tyr will know more about her. If its one thing he's taught me its to know your buisness partners..intamately. *Giggles sweetly*

Unfortunate circumstance. That is the best way to describe how our paths have crossed time and time again. We might have been friends, I suspect, had the wheel of fate turned a different way; but it was not to be. Instead I have kept tabs on her. Our first meeting was as enemies and conflict, and continued as such until she vanished from sight. Since her reappearance we have yet to actually connect, although through contacts and mutual aquaintences our paths continue to cross. I am proud of her in a way, as she continues to grow and change into quite the young woman. It will be interesting, no, fascinating to see where she ends up. Perhaps in time we will manage a cup of tea and some conversation, but that will be much in the future. For now, I will content myself with a distant view, and a secret smile.Vakarina Val`Kavek

I have seen Loriella and exchanged pleasantries in passing while visiting the Raven from time to time, but last night at the Hookah was the first time I had the pleasure of meeting her formally. I was quite impressed with her talents as a bard--she sang us a song that she had learned from a Sarnak, just that day, flawlessly. She also seems to notice and take in everything around her. And what a fabulous hat she has! Quite jaunty.Vahsyl was keeping his eye on her all eve. Curious.

I do not know quite what to say here, or really what I could get away with saying. I met her briefly and was later invited to a gathering at the Pendulum. We talked some, but running the show doesnt always give her much time to socialize. I am glad that we have met, because I miss just talking to someone. She does need to learn to take her own advice at times though.

Quiet. Sweet, but all together too quiet.

Zeverai pauses as she ponders the mysterious woman she briefly met at the Brass Hookah a week ago."She seems talented, a jumble of discordant music hiding underneath a fragile layer of polite mannerisms and steely resolve." She grins lightly as she shakes her head, "I admire her will, though I wonder what this bird would sing if she truely allowed her voice the freedom to create what it wants to."

Ah, Loriella. A lovely woman. Stunning actress. Bearer of profound scars. They a reminder, you see--of possibilities, these scars. They mean something has happened, and so also mean something else may happen. There are soothsayers who determine future by scars, and for good reason. What you know has happened once is not so unlikely to happen again. What has hurt you... Well.Possibilities. We're all about being shrewd.

*sighs*"Ah now, such a bright spark that one, so elusively slipping from my grasp and I'd all but converted her, the flower remains unblossomed... I do so hope to see her again, I was so close and she'd sing such sweet songs for His Glory..."

I am glad to see her again...she is a reminder of days I find myself nostalgic for, in a way. She remembers some of the same things I do, and it is good to have someone like that in one's life. She keeps me honest in terms of the Soulfire, too. She remembers where we started and is a check against my ambition. She helps me retain my perspective on a number of things, and for that I am grateful.

I wonder if I will ever get to tell her this.
