First planted 500 years ago in what is now called eastern Thundering Steppes, this vineyard once boasted vast acreage. With the Sundering, half the vineyard was lost and is to this day left scarred with two craters where Luclin left her mark. The Vineyards heart, however, remained safely protected nestled in the hidden valley north of the main lands.
Those knowing where to look can ride up onto the ledge of rock that leads into this hidden valley, and a lucky few even know the password that lifts the wizard-lock that hides the rocky entrance.
Once within the valleys tunnel, one cannot help but notice immediately the familys great manor house covered in the blood red leaves of Blood Thorn Ivy.
While the familys main home historically remained in Neriak, access to their estate was cut off from them when Neriak was closed and sealed. Uninvolved with the political struggles, the family moved themselves to their vineyards and had the two-story manor house built to include the usual comforts plus a library, a spacious ballroom, and of course, a well stocked wine cellar.
The vineyard, at present, produces seven wine varieties with at least two more under development. Under the management of the Defafnyr heir, Danzryil DeFafnyr, the vineyard has not only prospered tremendously but the rocky land surrounding the valley has been further developed into a silk plantation specializing in mana-silks used in the creation of finer wizard, mage and priest robes for their superior protection and enhanced ability to retain magical properties.With the recent re-opening of Neriak, Danzryil DeFafnyr has re-acquired the ancestral family manor and moved financial operations of DeFafnyr Wine & Silks to Neriak with her partner, Tanaar.
The grand manor house of Steppes, however, will not be forgotten and will remain the retirement home of her parents, Amulette and Artigan. DeFafnyr Wines can be found at the finer establishments across Norrath, including Ponys Tavern, The Soulfire Club, and of course, the Raven Mythic Inn, and is rumored to be among the favorites of both Queen Antonica as well as Queen Cristanos, not to mention the formidable Lucan DLere. Regardless of political affiliation or religious theology, DeFafnyr Vineyard Wines are stocked and are favorites among all serious private collectors. Taste testing and sample cases for the collectors of refined palates can be made available.
