History:Orphaned as a kit due to a tragic Gnome inspired snapping device wiping out her entire family, she learned to forage and sing for her supper in the local taverns. As she grew she roamed to different taverns to learn new songs and stories for which she had a knack. She lived for a short time in an orphanage, where she met the human Bruiser named Qiaje. She bonded to the girl and follows her about, much to Qiaje's dismay.

Later in life she found the Raven Mythic to be the most frequented tavern in Norrath and has learned to settle there. Duvessa almost killed her on one of her first outings in the tavern in a misunderstanding involving the tavern chef. Once the misunderstanding was cleared, they grew to be very close friends. Duvessa hired her on as staff and she now has a table for tarot readings in a more quiet corner of the tavern.

As Modesta becomes more famous in Norrath she becomes more nomadic. Her visits to the tavern are irregular and considered a treat by the regulars who have had the chance to befriend her.

I don't like many ratonga, but the few times I've been in Modesta's company things were rather entertaining. She has a talent for singing and I can see why Duvessa keeps her around.

I love this woman. She is the epitomy of cuteness! She makes me laugh with her little mannerisms and innocence that is hard to find in this day and age. She is the woman I never was allowed to become, so I hold her dear in my mind. I hope our meetings become more often in the Raven.

Modesta is one of the nicest beings I have met so far. She sings songs for me in the inn whenever I ask. Her mood is almost always cheerful, unless she's had too much drink - and even then she is upbeat. She also seems to know what is going in my life even before I do, though this seems to be merely a coincidence. I hope to spend more time with her. Perhaps I will learn something.

my good friend Modesta, she knows just what to say to cheeres me up when i'm down, how to make me laugh till it hurts. ands she doesn't treats me like a child unlike others. and her songs aren't halfs bads eithers.

((Sometimes the only thing I can think of to do with these is to work it into the RP that's been going back and forth and that's what happened here, the person in the background knows who the are, they'll know it by the comment that is made a few lines down but they don't read the boards much and I didn't ask about tossing their name in here and while I don't care about people tossing my character in places, I flow with things really well, I don't like to make that assumption about others so just in case I'll wait to add the person's name in until later. ))

-he pauses when he hears his name hollered out sharply. He quickly fixes his wording-

-his eyes roll half-heartedly but it looks like he's kicking himself for his own slip up.

-he mocks shuddering-

they're creepy, how they are supposed to tell your future and all. I mean..yeah I'm curious but I also don't wanna know. And her bug about rainbows, have you messed with those stones? I've seen what can come outta rainbows, not so sure she should be so obsessed with wanting to be one.

-he pauses as someone else speaks. When they finish he wrinkles his nose and brows-

Rainbows mean that?

-his face relaxes as he ponders the words. Shrugging he smirks-

Oh...well...she's missing a lot of colors then...

-he shrugs-

She's just..so...cheerful..

-Kacer waves his hand dismissively as he nods-

Yeah, yeah, yeah...I need to change my tune...and I know she's a good place to start...I got it...

-he bites his lower lip before he adds

Yes but...she's so cheerful...

-chuckling can be heard in the background-

With time, Modesta has become a trusted friend, a generator of revenu in my inn, a bard of both the Raven and the Harvest now, and she always manages to bring a smile to my lips during even the saddest of moments.

She is not what she appears to be, though. Under the fur of this Ratonga is a deeply wounded, near broken individual. She has managed to pull herself togethere through the sheer force of her will, and project the image of happiness and good feelings she wishes she had on the inside.

I am sure that some days, Moedsta actually feels just as happy as she acts, that for some instances, she can forget her pain, and her loss, and simply enjoy life in spite of things.

But I also know Moedsta sleeps alone. There, looking into a mirror, and laying in her bed during a restless night, I imagine Modesta to be alone with her thoughts and her memories, and the haunting pain of what happened to her. With nobody to help her at night, no comforting arms around, and more importantly, no one to see the wounds she hides... that's when I suspect she cries.

Modesta shouldn't have to cry alone, but that is a choice she has made for herself. I know it well.

Such a bright creature so sad I saw the other day, it is as if someone plucked out the sun and drowned it. I have offered her my friendship, trade for one she is loosing, Im sure the story will come out in time.

I met this sweetheart when I joined the Harvest. Such a cutie, I swear, I could just eat her up. She's been nothing but helpful to little me, making things and the like...she just isn't fond of notches, I've noticed. <grins> Going to have to stop that and see if she notices. Until then, I would like to get to know her better, perhaps even as a friend.

*smiles* Modesta...just saying her name puts a smile on my face. She is the kind of ratonga you want to pull into your lap and hold onto, keeping them safe from this broken world. When she is sad, the world seems darker.

While I have yet to get a reading from Modesta, from what I have seen from others is that she can be spot on with them. It almost makes me afraid to have a reading, since I don't like bad news. Then again, I need answers... Perhaps I'll speak to her about finding out what my cards hold.

Can't say I know her too well, but she always cheerfully greets me whenever she is present in the Raven, and I always respond in kind. Her singing is marvelous, and I do hope other's outside the establishment appreciate it as much as I do. I've also watched her give a reading. I don't get what's going off there with those cards... and it's not quite my thing. But, having said that, it did seem very interesting to watch.

I'm hoping that she will be someone I can get to know better, and hopefully call a friend and ally in due time.

This ratonga is such a sweetheart. So giving and always trying to return my money. All I can say is that I'm glad I get to hang around her, she is a room brightener!

This one so reminds me of my beloved Gypsies its a treat to have her around, and her readings are good and true, it is nice to find a fellow reader of the fortunes.

This small one was the first ratonga I have met, and was warm and friendly as can be...I'm not sure why her race has been given such a bad reputation around Qeynos. She is--delight of delights--a bard, a troubadour, and in addition to songs and stories has also learned to read people's fortunes. She offered to read the cards for me, and was uncannily accurate. Between her advice, and Duvessa herself finding me a teacher, I think I may owe a shining future in part to these two ladies.

Miss Moddie is so adorably sweet, every time I see her I just have to give her a scarf. Her singing and her mood just brightens up any evening. She knows how to be bawdy, lively, cheerful, somber, sweet all at once.

She is someone who I definately miss since my departure from the Harvest. I treasure every chance I get to see her *grinning with a bit of malice* especially now.

You see, that little mouse is quite a killer. There is not too much I enjoy more than watching a fellow predator at work. Yes, she still retains her sweet disposition but does her blood lust strain that? I hope to hunt with her more to see how it develops.

It was...odd being called 'cousin' when I can't remember my family. That part of my life, like many parts recently, is a blur of half-forgotten memories and all too easily remembered nightmares. But what is memory and what is dream?

Yet it is also comforting to know that somewhere, someone is willing to take a damaged (physically as well as mentally) Ratonga like myself as kin. If she had been part of my family, I would have considered myself truly honored. However, even as a friend, I can take satisfaction in knowing that though we might not be family, I know that we are still bound in many ways beyond bloodlines.

Possibly the most pleasant ratonga I have ever met. She's an extraordinary example of what her race can be with proper manners.

*smiles* I love Moddie...who can't help but love the joy she brings whenever she appears. Always stylish, always with a kind word and smile on her face.

And in the hunt, no one should underestimate her smiling demeanor and small stature, for I have seen her casually hamstring an opponent while complimenting me on how nice my armor looks.

I don't get to see her much, as her travels take her far and wide, but I hope that in the future we can occasionally travel the road together.

In some moments, here and there, you obtain a peace, a clam, a sensation of being out of time. I find such when I work with Modesta on a project. There's only Modesta, her company, and what we work on. A dream almost idea save for that I can always sense the pain in Modesta, and she can always sense it in me. Her smiles are priceless though, and more than enough for the both of us.

Cute. Generous. The wisdom of an old mother, the energy and verve of a gypsy spirit.

I guess I am just lucky in that the Ratonga I get in the Raven have a tendancy to be the best of their race, as typified in someone like Modesta. And while she does ocassionally do something that drives me utterly mad... the time she let me think she had assassinated my chef comes to mind...

I've known Modesta for a long time now. I've seen her humor, her broken heart, the sadness hidden in her eyes. Seen her at her best, and at her worst, and all the spaces in between. With her I have a long and lasting friendship that I have come to appreciate more than I would have thought. Such is a testament to her personality and inner beauty.

when i returned to the raven i realized one of the things i missed most was modesta's music and humor.
