HELPFUL LINKS
Neverwinter Reborn

Neverwinter is a free, action MMORPG based on the acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons fantasy roleplaying game. Epic stories, action combat and classic roleplaying await those heroes courageous enough to enter the fantastic world of Neverwinter!

Explore and defend one of the most beloved cities from Dungeons & Dragons as it rises from the ashes of destruction. This action RPG set in an immersive MMO world will take you from the besieged walls of the city to subterranean passageways in search of forgotten secrets and lost treasure.

One hundred years have passed since the Spellplague forever changed the magical and mysterious lands of Faerûn. Mighty empires fell and great cities toppled, leaving only monster-haunted ruins and survivors struggling to rebuild.

The city of Neverwinter, the Jewel of the North, seemed blessed by the gods. While the rest of the Sword Coast was devastated by the event, Neverwinter survived largely intact. But this was only a temporary reprieve from its inevitable doom. Nearly 75 years later, a volcanic eruption rained fire, ash and molten fury upon the city, annihilating everything in its wake.

Today, Neverwinter has restored much of its former glory. Lord Neverember of Waterdeep has taken the city under his protection and put forth a call to all adventurers and heroes of the Savage North to help rebuild Neverwinter in the hopes that one day he can lay claim to her throne and crown. But evil forces conspire in the dark places of the world, seeking to undermine all...

I recall the last MMO that had playable dragons, Horizons.

They had TONS of customization for the dragons, (22 sliders), and none for others (at most 6 sliders). Their dwarves were deformed orangutang looking things because they had human type arms.

Module 6: Elemental Evil!
We’re pleased to announce the coming of Neverwinter’s biggest module to date: Elemental Evil!

Over the past year, the citizens of Neverwinter have faced a menagerie of terrifying foes from Thayan Liches to the Dragon Goddess Tiamat. Now, however, the very forces of nature conspire to bring the city to its knees! Fear not, as a new hero blessed by the gods, the Oathbound Paladin, has emerged to fight the impending threat. These righteous fighters will be able embody both the healing and tanking paradigms that have made them so popular with Dungeons & Dragons players everywhere.

As the heroes of Neverwinter endeavor to battle the Cults of Elemental Evil, players will experience a gripping storyline that will serve to compliment the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons tabletop adventure, Princes of the Apocalypse. With Elemental Evil will come a level cap increase from 60 to 70, complete with a new set of quests, feats, and slottable class feature powers.

On the horizon for after Module 6: Elemental Evil are modules with highly requested additions including guild strongholds and well-known characters from Dungeons & Dragons lore.

Powerful forces seek Neverwinter’s destruction, are you ready to face them?

Greetings adventures!

As you might know, we’ll be seeing some familiar faces in Neverwinter pretty soon and we’ve got Simon Lucas of the Neverwinter team to tell us about integrating these iconic characters into Neverwinter! Check out what he has to say about bringing Minsc and Boo to life in Neverwinter:

One of the most exciting parts of working with an established IP is the chance to add familiar and much-loved elements into the game for fans and players to enjoy. Sometimes these elements are small, Easter Egg-type additions, or background information only the dedicated players will pick up on. Other times we get to use classic or iconic D&D characters and place them front and center in our game. Our next module is one of those times.

Minsc and Boo are two extremely colorful and much-loved characters from the Forgotten Realms lore, and we’re bringing them to Neverwinter for the first time with the release of the Elemental Evil module. The quirky ranger and his miniature giant space hamster companion were last seen in the Legends of Baldur’s Gate comic series by IDW, having spent the previous century petrified as statues.

Restored to flesh and blood and once more roaming the Realms, Minsc and Boo are bold and humorous companions and steadfast allies. Now players will have the chance to adventure alongside the intrepid pair and uncover the secrets behind the rise of Elemental Evil.

Through a series of introductory quests the heroes of Neverwinter discover a terrible plot that threatens the whole of the Sword Coast.

The story opens with the players meeting the Archdruid Morningdawn in Protector’s Enclave. He has been escorted to the city bearing a precious package—the Tree of Elemental Balance. His escort on this important trek was the famous ranger, Minsc. As always, Minsc is accompanied by his faithful companion, Boo. Thus introduced to the pair, players get to adventure alongside them and investigate the rise of Elemental Evil.

Throughout their adventures together, players can expect a healthy dose of Minsc’s irrepressible and enthusiastic optimism. Minsc persistently encourages players to take the fight to the enemy, placing armored boots on elemental backsides with righteous fury.

As the story unfolds, the heroes discover the extent of the danger and must save Neverwinter from destruction. Through this quest line Minsc and Boo fight alongside the heroes, providing information and assistance in Minsc’s own, inimitable style. GO FOR THE EYES, BOO!

Neverwinter: Know Your Guild Hall - Dev Blog

Hi everyone, I’m Jeff “LCDRMiller” Miller, an environment artist working on our big Stronghold update. I’m here yet again to show off a few more awesome things about your guilds Stronghold! In this short blog I will show just a bit of your Stronghold itself.

Image

Guild Stronghold

During your time in the Stronghold update you will find yourself doing all sorts of things for the sole purpose of increasing your guilds Stronghold rank. As you can imagine there will be benefits in doing so ranging across PvE and PvP. The one benefit I would like to briefly show you here is visual Stronghold rank upgrades.

Early on it was always our goal as an art team to get in visual change for your guilds Stronghold as you rank up. We had to come up with a smart way to do upgrades across the entire ranking up range and this task was given to artists Mark Hernandez. He started with building up the final look of the stronghold at max rank level. I won’t be spoiling that here in this blog, you will have to wait and see the final state in game…its glorious!

After he built out the final state, he worked very closely with the design team to figure out when certain visual upgrades would update and change. When your guild first jumps into its new home you will notice that the Stronghold is definitely in a “fixer upper” state. As your guild progress towards max rank, rubble will start to clear out, lights and banners will start to be installed and even a new fountain will be built! At max rank your guild Stronghold will be an amazing home any guild would be proud of owning.

Below are a few images of a small area in the quart yard that will give you an idea of what the visual upgrades will be like. I won’t say what ranks these are, but I will say none of the images are of max rank.

The art team is very excited for your guild to jump in and start clearing out a home of your own!

I find this very interesting. As some of the concept is very much what EQ2 player's at the SOE Fan Faire had interest in, when Guild Halls were first introduced to us. Not just an interior to decorate. But a territory to take ownship of. To protect. Something familiar somewhere in Norrath. Like any ruins or small fortifications found in Commonlands or Antonica. Our own instance - ala the Prestige Homes we see now - with some land out to certain perimeter.

These great lands have been through some rough times as of late. With your help, Neverwinter has been saved from several world-ending events.

Tiamat was thwarted, thanks to a band of adventurers and the clerics of Sehanine lead by Linu La’neral. But there was barely time to rest before the Cults of Elemental Evil attacked the Sword Coast, including a daring raid on Neverwinter itself. They, too, were defeated by brave adventurers and the legendary hero, Minsc.

As war raged along the coast, Bruenor Battlehammer emerged to reclaim Gauntlgrym. Once more, the adventurers of Neverwinter rose to the challenge and helped Bruenor restore his kingdom. Afterwards, it was discovered that the demon lords of the Abyss had been released into the Underdark.

Drizzt Do’Urden discovered Demogorgon, the “Prince of Demons,” was spreading chaos and madness amongst the denizens of the Underdark. Together with Regis, Bruenor, and, once more, Neverwinter adventurers, Demogorgon was destroyed and banished back into the Abyss.

Now, Bruenor Battlehammer is attempting to rebuild Gauntlgrym while the Cult of the Eternal Flame and demonic hordes attack his kingdom. Luckily, Drizzt Do’Urden and Regis continue to stand with Bruenor. Minsc is tired of sitting around Protector’s Enclave while adventurers kick the butt of evil. Linu La’neral, seeing the chaos that unfolded after Tiamat’s fall, decides to see if the region could once again use her help.

And in the depths of the Underdark, a demon lord is perilously close to the completion of its plans…

In Neverwinter: Storm King's Thunder, giants have mysteriously returned to the Sword Coast, wreaking havoc in the once peaceful areas of Bryn Shander, Lonelywood, and Cold Run. It's up to you to unravel their plans and what they aim to find.
