Exchange a gift with another Raven-Mythic patron and support local businesses!



OK, here's my idea. We make a sign-up list of people who are willing to spend $20 plus shipping on Etsy and send a gift bought there to someone else on the list. Alternatively, if you're an artist, you can sign up and do $20 worth of commission artwork in exchange for your gift. If you want to sign up more than once, feel free.

Etsy is an e-commerce website focused on handmade or vintage items as well as art and craft supplies. These items cover a wide range including art, photography, clothing, jewelry, edibles, bath & beauty products, quilts, knick-knacks and toys. The site follows in the tradition of open craft fairs, giving sellers personal storefronts where they list their goods. It has been compared to "a crafty cross between Amazon and eBay," and to "your grandma's basement".

Once sign-ups are complete you'll be matched with one random person, and send them a gift. Likewise, one random person will be matched to you and send you a gift. The cut-off date for this will be 12/15/11. On the 15th or 16th, I'll scramble the list of people signed up. Once the list is published, you'll have a chance to request a change if you object to who you are matched with. Consider this carefully, because you're going to have to trust someone with a mailing address!

In most cases, buyers should be able to have the item sent directly to their recipients. The vendors may not wrap it for you, but they should be able to toss in a message like "Happy holidays from Soandso!"

After the holidays, we can share what we got from each other!

Sometimes tomorrow night or the next morning I will be randomizing the lists and matching up people. Who gives you a gift is not the same as who you are a gift to! Please double check to make sure you're on the list if you should be. It's OK to back out if you have to, but once a commitment is made, please honor the holiday spirit!

Fantasy, Celtic, Earthy, Organic, Sparkly, Fairy Tale...

We seem to have much the same taste, so I set off on an Etsy journey to find something, not fitting, as that sounds too restrictive, perhaps delightful would be the better word. I also tend to be practical even in my whimsy, sometimes.

My journey spanned many shoppes, several hours and one final click on the "buy" button even as I was still thinking that perhaps that other item was better!

One package of mine went awry and another one is going to be late, so I ordered something else. So Savriel will get two presents, and one will likely end up, somehow, at my house. LoL ... so confuzzled!

Well....Sibelle got hers shipped, and now I'm sad because there's supposed to be a gag gift involved and the gag gift is now getting to her before the real gift so it's in the wrong order so everythins ruined now and Christmas is ruined and the joke won't be funny and it's all ruined! (....dramatic, much?)

Anyway Sibelle, it'll all make sense! But backwards. *nod*

Robert arrived with two packages! Inside one was a badly needed adorable little purse (That is just the right size) and the second was two gorgeous necklaces and a set of pretty feather earrings. Robert proclaimed that someone knew me well. And it was a very nice surprise after the morning of hell my body is forcing me through. Thank you so so much for making my holiday brighter <3

I got a hat! With ears! And my crappy camera doesn't show it very well but the second package was a hatpin/button with the Mandalorian crest on it (It's on the upper left of Boba Fett's chestplate if you look.)

Also the hat is fleece, covers my actual ears perfectly and is super warm!



Edit: I must've been a little too close to my DS when I took the picture because egad, my nose is NOT that big!

/derail I have! About sixty pounds in the last year, it's kind of hit a sudden tipping point where it's really noticable. Echo says I look like a young John Gorka now. Which from her is high praise indeed!
