Psia Ya know? This is likely worthy of it's own thread, but it makes sense to me now. A month ago, Smedley said that Star Wars Galaxies player's would be able to come home. My gut says SOE got a new license agreement with Disney to release an MMO tie-in with this show. Look at the characters in these teasers. Now look at at Landmark characters.

Don't you toy with my emotions like that, Psia. Don't know if I could take it, to get my hopes up behind this theory and be presented with some BS kid-oriented browser game like the Clone wars one.

There's not one... but TWO main female characters! That's about 100% more than in other Star Wars movies & shows.

The first official trailers.

There is also word that Obi-Wan will be seen in Rebels. Though how big of a role he'll have is yet unknown.

This always did look promising to me. Even more so now. October can't come fast enough.

Pretty awesome stuff. I'm guessing the hero ship will make an appearance in the next immediate frame.

I guess Disney likes the show, it's already been given a second season... before the first episode has even aired.

While I've only seen the first couple episodes, I've been hearing that Rebels has gotten a lot better. There is even characters from the movies, and characters from Clone Wars have been appearing. Do not click below if you want to avoid spoilers!

We most certainly met some familiar faces over the course of season one. A few of our jaws dropped more than once. Looks like season two will raise the tension up a few notches.

And that's all good things! We're watching the rise of the Rebellion, and it's hitting full on war!

And with this Season 2 trailer... while I've not seen much Rebels, I have watched quite a bit of Clone Wars, so...

In my opinion, Rebels is the best thing to come out of the franchise since Return of the Jedi. I am nothing short of amazed at how awesome it has been. At this point, to me, Rebels has set the bar that JJ Abrams has to beat with the next film.

While posting this in the Anthologies thread, it crossed my mind that we are much more likely to meet characters from Rebels through Rogue One, than we would be over 30 years later in Episode VII.

Not confirmed as happening. But the possibilities do look good.

http://nerdist.com/characters-from-star ... ars-films/
When it comes to the film and television areas of the Star Wars universe, there have always been connections. OK, maybe “always” isn’t the correct word. The holiday special that aired on television certainly doesn’t count as canon. That aside, the characters from film and TV play in the same sandbox. But, since Disney purchased Lucasfilm and the Story Group was created, synergy has become more important. A New Dawn by John Jackson Miller starred Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla and was out just before Star Wars Rebels premiered. Tarkin by James Luceno hit shelves not too long before the first appearance of Wilhuff Tarkin in Rebels. It’s all tied together, and that means it’s possible for characters from Star Wars Rebels to cross over into other mediums–even live-action films. Maybe more possible than we realized.

The seeds for this idea were planted at the Gareth Edwards panel at Star Wars Celebration. We learned the premise of the first Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One, and when it will take place. It’s about a rogue band of resistance fighters on a mission to steal plans for the Death Star, and the story unfolds between Episodes III and IV. Edwards said it was closer to IV. That puts it awfully close to Star Wars Rebels on the timeline since Rebels takes place five years before A New Hope. Lucasfilm’s Vice President of Development Kiri Hart was at the panel and when she was asked about the similar time period of Rebels and Rogue One, she said the Story Group is facilitating development for Rogue One, and they’re “very much aware that things are happening on the same parts of timeline.” She said there were opportunities there.

Given the role we’re seeing the crew of the Ghost play in the budding Rebel Alliance, it’s conceivable that their names would come up. Even though the cells are cloaked in secrecy to a degree, and even though the galaxy is large, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the resistance fighters in Rogue One come into contact with characters we know from Rebels.

Rebels executive producers Simon Kinberg and Dave Filoni talked to /Film about whether we could see the rebels crossing over into live-action stories. Kinberg said, “Absolutely there’s been conversation about it. That this story could be a story that crosses over into other films, whether it’s A New Hope or other movies. And that movies could potentially even enter into our timeline and our moment. It’s a big galaxy. So, you know, things are happening all over the place that don’t necessarily have to react to each other, the way we react to news around the world.”

When asked about whether Rebels crew could appear in a live-action movie, Filoni said, “I would never say never to that. I mean, now that Lucasfilm is so integrated in story from top to bottom in all different forms of media, we already have had our characters cross over into novels. We’re gonna have our crossover into comic books. I would say it’s entirely possible. And I would encourage it.” Filoni added he’s talked to the creators of other films and made it clear the characters are up for grabs. Additionally, Kinberg stated at the Star Wars Rebels panel at Celebration that he and Filoni sit in the room with feature film writers and they contribute to each other’s projects. The doors are open.

As someone who became obsessed with the galaxy far, far away through Star Wars: The Clone Wars, I’m excited about the potential for characters created for The Clone Wars and Rebels to have a greater life beyond the series. They deserve to be introduced to a wider audience in the live-action films and can be used to connect the dots and expand the story for themselves and also for characters we already know. Think about how much more we’ve learned about Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader because of Ahsoka Tano. The possibilities are exciting.

Would you want to see Star Wars Rebels characters on the big screen? Which ones? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Some of us watched together through RMTV last night. Game on. A nice hour of Star Wars. We thought that had Episodes 1 - 3 been anything more akin to the storytelling style of Rebels, they would have been far more enjoyable to watch than they were.

If that one voice sounds familiar, that's because it's Sarah Michelle Gellar, voicing a new Inquisitor called Seventh Sister.

https://www.tvinsider.com/article/64379 ... ed-series/

Before Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels began, executive producer Dave Filoni teased that he was bringing another major legacy character from the films to his animated series. We can now reveal that guest star is Princess Leia Organa (who is going by General Organa in the current blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens).

The iconic character—who was introduced in the very first scene of the first Star Wars movie back in 1977 (aka A New Hope)—will be featured in the January 20 episode of the Disney XD series, which is set prior to that film, just as the Galactic Empire is beginning its ruthless oppression. The teenage princess is sent to Lothal—the base planet for the series’ main characters, a group of rebel fighters—on a secret mission to bring ships for the rebel fleet. Unfortunately an Imperial lockdown throws that plan into chaos.

“We thought we had an opportunity to show her learning to be a leader, experimenting with the personality that becomes the stronger more resolute character you see in A New Hope,” Filoni says. “One of the complex challenges of depicting Leia in Rebels is that we have to remind the audience that at this point she is part of the Empire. She doesn’t believe in the Empire, but she is acting the part, almost a double agent.”

This will be Leia's only appearance this season, and it is unknown yet if she will appear again on the series. The voice will not be provided by Carrie Fisher (the live-action actress who created the role), but instead is by Julie Dolan, who also played Leia in the video game Star Wars: Uprising.

Leia joins several other legacy characters who have already appeared on the show, including Darth Vader, C-3PO, R2-D2, Yoda and Lando Calrissian from the films and Ahsoka Tano from the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

"I get asked by fans about certain characters all the time," Filoni told us back in September. "We've been pretty good at bringing them back, not just because people want them, but because we have an important story to tell with them, and how things cross over."

The episode, “A Princess in Lothal,” airs Wednesday, January 20 at 9/8c (Rebels’ new timeslot) on Disney XD. Check out a clip:

A long time ago, in an RMTV far far away, I once said that Rebels had set the bar that The Force Awakens was going to have to reach. I am probably in the minority here, but I still feel this is true. And, to be honest..... I think rebels is better. It's a good time to be a Star Wars fan, don't get me wrong. The Force Awakens was good stuff, probably #3 to me in order of best to worst of the films. Rebels is just... more of what *I* want.
