There was that picture floating around of Luke's Force Awakens robe hung up alone. As in, Mark Hamill had hung up the robe for the last time. Just the thought made me cringe. This title is not helping me with my doubts. I suppose this infers that Rey is the last Jedi standing?

It was hung up because filming had been completed. That's all it meant. He doesn't wear the robe between movies.

The working theory around the film title regards use of the word, Jedi. Singular for Jedi is Jedi. Plural for Jedi is...Jedi. There is no such thing as Jedi's.

Well now. That is certainly a set-up. I really do think that Rebels storyline of their third season plays into Luke's statement. It actually makes sense.

Earlier this month, Carrie Fisher’s brother, Todd Fisher, indicated that he and Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, had given Lucasfilm the go-ahead to use recent footage of Carrie Fisher in Star Wars: Episode IX. However, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has since stated that Fisher will not appear in Episode IX.

“He was probably confused,” said Kennedy, speaking with Good Morning America. “Because we finished everything in VIII, and Carrie is absolutely phenomenal in the movie, and we’re so happy that we were able to complete shooting in the summer.”

Kennedy continued, “Sadly, Carrie will not be in IX…But we will see a lot of her in VIII, which is great.”

Not only will Fisher play a significant role in The Last Jedi, but we’ll get to hear her “incredible mind” at work in the script. Speaking on a Last Jedi panel at the Star Wars Celebration, director Rian Johnson revealed that Fisher also served as a script doctor for The Last Jedi. (TMS has previously chronicled Fisher’s storied career as a script doctor.)

“I connected with her first and foremost as a writer,” Johnson said, “She’s a brilliant writer, with an incredible mind. I’d go to her house and we’d sit on her bed for hours, going through the script…And then at the end of six hours, there would be this four-word line of dialogue that would be the distillation of all that, that was brilliant.”

Even director Rian Johnson loves this 8-bit rendition of the Last Jedi trailer.

There is a really nice photo spread of costumed actors in this week's Vanity Fair magazine. They are making their rounds on the web. So I snagged copies to post here. First, the covers.

https://www.themarysue.com/matt-radar-t ... efront-ii/

Thank goodness for those hard-working “real folks.”

Now that Star Wars Battlefront II has given players the ability to mod characters, one blessed internet genius has created a skin which transforms Kylo Ren into his alter ego/piss-poor disguise, Matt the Radar Technician. The skin reportedly only works in Arcade mode, but it’s still gloriously ridiculous.

“Matt” became famous from the 2016 Saturday Night Live skit, “Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base,” in which Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver) goes undercover as “Matt the Radar Technician” in a parody of the popular reality show. Driver absolutely killed it in this skit, portraying Kylo as the least well-disguised boss in history and making it instantly meme-able. For those few of you left on the internet who haven’t yet seen it yet, you can watch below. And for those of you who’ve already seen it, you can relive the joy.

phpBB [media]

Players have also seized on Battlefront II‘s modding capabilities to add a pink Darth Vader, after Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen rather infamously said players shouldn’t have such an option. Jorgensen was speaking about possible microtransactions in Battlefront II – a topic that’s become quite a sore spot in the game, as legal and consumer-backlash challenges to EA’s practices open up. He emphasized that they didn’t want all of the game’s microtransactions to be cosmetic. “If you did a bunch of cosmetic things, you might start to violate the canon [of Star Wars],” he said. “Darth Vader in white probably doesn’t make sense, versus in black. Not to mention you probably don’t want Darth Vader in pink. No offense to pink, but I don’t think that’s right in the canon.”

Now, I hate to break it to Electronic Arts, but this is the age of the internet. It’s pink Vaders and Matt the Radar Technicians from here on out.

Finally saw Last Jedi. I can certainly see where some of the criticisms come from now. I also think some are just people being whinny. I also think the movie relies too much on plot, and not enough on the characters.

Phasma still gets the raw deal. Sheesh. Isn't she supposed to be a total badass?

Definitely worth seeing on a big screen. Damn those visuals are pretty!

I agree that Phasma was completely wasted. There had to be a good story for her in there somewhere. We just never got to see it. I don't read SW novels. But I'd read a Phasma novel.

Well, then you're in luck...

Plus she's made numerous appearances in various other novels and comics. Full list at the bottom.
