CBS Lawyers Go After Fans Again

Post by Psia » 10/04/17

October first, Sunday, the following appeared in social media:
AXANAR FANS - PLEASE HELP SAVE THE STAR TREK MUSEUM!

"Friends of Trekcetera", a group of Star Trek fans who support the CBS licensed Star Trek museum outside Calgary, Canada, has launched a GoFundMe campaign. The museum, run by two huge Star Trek fans, Devan Daniels and Michael Mangold, recently moved from Vulcan (Yes that was really the town's name) to Drumheller. And while their revenue has tripled because Drumheller is a huge tourist stop, and they are now profitable, they are in desperate need of $ 10,000 to make a loan payment and allow them to refinance their debt.

"Friends of Trekcetera" is trying to raise $ 10,000 in 24 hours! We are all Star Trek fans and this is all good for us!

Tonight, I read the following:
Trekcetera Museum Update!

Well, the good news is that yesterday, Michael and Devan raised $ 5,000. Add that to the $ 5,000 the GoFundMe campaign raised, and they are there!

But typical of CBS, they contacted Devan and Michael and said to take the GoFundMe down. Of course, they didn't put it up, fans did. And naturally, CBS can't help but go after fans. CBS threatetned Trekcetera that they would pull their license if they didn't take down the campaign. Too late CBS, they already made their goal.

These guys are giving CBS a license fee and CBS bullys them when they need money. Isn't it amazing that Axanar cares more about CBS licensees than CBS does?
So very tiresome.

Good news for the museum.
Trekcetera saved! Thank you to all the Star Trek fans who helped by donating! 100% of the money is now in the hands of Devan and Michael (less the GoFundMe fees). Thanks to Star Trek fan Reece Watkins who created and ran the campaign and Mike Bawden for facilitating the transfer of the money to our Canadian friends. This is the kind of cooperation and support that makes Star Trek fans great!

It should be noted that 50% of the funds raised came in after Mike Bawden emailed the Axanar donor list to rally support. Axanar fans are the best!
Is it just me, or does this stink of some strange bias against Axanar supporters since the settlement?
Despite interference from CBS, the "Friends of Trekcetera", lead by Axanar's own Reece Watkins, raised over $ 5,000 that the official Star Trek museum needed to make a critical loan payment. The day before, Devan Daniels and Michael Mangold, the museum owners, had raised $ 5,000, so all together, they raised the $ 10,000 they needed to cover a loan payment due this week.

CBS had contacted Devan and Michael yesterday and told them they could not crowd fund and they had to take the campaign down. But of course, THEY weren't crowd funding, fans were.

And the Axanar haters, lead by Carlos Pedraza, the creepy stalker who can't seem to let Axanar go, are railing against Axanar fans helping other Star trek fans! I mean, heaven forbid these morons should get that HELPING others is one of the driving principles of Star Trek. And Axanar has on numerous occasions helped others in need. What have the haters done? NOTHING. Nothing but try to tear down Axanar, and anyone connected to it. Guys, get a life! And maybe, have someone explain to you what Star Trek is all about.

Star Trek is about us aspiring to be better than we are. About coming together and achieving great things. And that is a driving principle of Axanar. We are Star Trek fans.
