Rej looked annoyed at first, then nodded as Andrews set the pistol off to the side within easy reach. He took another deep breath and buried the slight sense of patronization he felt from the Major giving him the easy task, instead seeing it for the blessing it was - he could look at the terminal, and not at the abbatoir behind him. His hands trembled for just a moment, but he flexed them twice and they were steady again. His fingers flew over the keys as he focused on re-establishing their connection with the bridge.

He'd overheard Andrews and Chain talking earlier, and his horror at the events at hand were replaced with a deep worry for Linear, his one friend in this whole mess, who had gone silent. Rej finished his task in short order, and as the terminal carried out his commands and attempted to make the new connection, Rej pulled out his phone and opened the chat app they used back when they were gaming together. He clicked on Lumina's icon and opened a private chat window.

[Sabbath] hey
[Sabbath] you good?

[Sabbath] ...

[Sabbath] please say something.

The Marine Security Force arrives outside the door with a series of aggressive yells from their commander. Ignoring normal bomb disposal procedure, one of them heroically, yet gently, picks up the dark book bag and gingerly power-walks it away to a less sensitive area. During the commotion outside the override Andrews requested appears on the panel in front of Rej.

“You’d tell me if something was serious about Azure, right?” the Major said. There was a pause from Chain.

“She is alive and well." Chain said, "Before we get into that, I wanted to inform you and Mr. Markov that the only weapon we are carrying for the War Pig is the Diamond Lance. The D-Lance is currently secured in the hangar of the Enterprise. It was previously transported to Japan for analysis, since the War Pig was being designed to make the best use of it.

"While in Japan it was discovered that the D-Lance is in truth a computing device and is running its own simulated environment, which we’ve dubbed Diamond World, or D-World. It’s also been called Dark World, because we don’t know what is in there, exactly. Anyway, that’s where Linear is. In light of her probable destruction, she was uploaded to D-World as an emergency measure. Currently her vital signs are fine, though she is beyond the reach of communication. Getting her out will need to wait until we are back at NS Wolf."

Linear awoke to a different world, one whose grassy expanses of fresh basalt and broad shield volcanoes reminded her very much of Isabela Island. She was stood atop the missile launcher embedded in the abdomen of the Spider mech. At her feet was a note flapping in the breeze, and the only thing stopping it from flying away was a knockoff Game Boy being used as a paperweight. She pulled the slip of paper out from under it and began to read.

"Hello sister,

If you are reading this, you’ve safely arrived in D-World. “Why not send someone who was about to die anyway?” Is what I said. You may be there a long time, especially if we lose the Lance, so I've supplied you with a Game Box.

P.S. Also, the Spider. Who knows what is in there."

Andrews looked dumbly at Chain for a half a moment before shaking his head "Thats a hell of a thing they cooked up there. But, part of that's another problem, for another day." he grumbles and runs his hand over his face a second time before huffing. "Thank you, keep me informed, and let me know what those Ruskie bastards ahead us are doing" He says slipping into his more professional voice again, with less twang in it. Moving to the door and conversing with the head of the Marine Security Detail, he informs them that they need to keep this room secure, but that last he saw, the bridge also came under attack and that he was trying to raise them again now.

Stepping back into the room with the head of the squad and hopefully upon reestablishing contact with the bridge, he would get in touch with the Admiral again. Pressing on him the need to get either himself or Rej over to stricken Puller, assess if the machine's been compromised, and get the Pig off it or to get her moving again without compromising the fleet's safety or preparedness. The Major listening to the Admiral's suggestions and input and offering counter suggestions if possible, letting Rej input if possible. He'd also remind the Admiral that a security detail should also be posted to the D-Lance, if it hasn't been already.

[Sabbath] ugh

After watching another chat message drift unread into the void, Rej locked the screen on his phone and slid it back into his pocket as he heard Chain more clearly explained Linear's situation. He felt uneasy - as though they weren't being told everything - but set the feeling aside for a moment to better focus on re-establishing communications with the bridge and, by extension, the rest of the fleet. The uneasy feeling continued to rise, and with a few keystrokes he decided to split the screen on the terminal, and with the other half, he set about patching into the other security camera feeds on the Enterprise, flicking through the images one by one to see what else was happening on the ship.

When Rej looks into the feeds from the other parts of the Enterprise he notices that an Osprey is warming up on deck. Shortly after the Major pages him, Admiral Phillips appears onscreen. He gives a grunt of general dissatisfaction before he begins talking.

“Major, just the man I wanted to talk to. Good to see you’re in one piece. We’re still sorting out what is going on, but GCHQ is going through available data we have on the traitors identified so far. No declarations of war from Russia yet, but they are stonewalling the hell out of us about the Lider. We’ve had data indicating a site similar to Vulcan in Antarctica, but didn’t have the resources on hand to organize an expedition right away. The info must have leaked to the Ruskies and they got the drop on us. That’s likely where they found their new toy. ” the Admiral says.

“Prepare to move to the Puller. The Osprey leaves in five minutes, whether Mr. Markov is aboard or not. Puller is without power, but not currently in danger of sinking. Fires are being contained as we speak. JMSDF Kaga will being brought alongside to provide auxiliary power and support for the activation of the War Pig, and if necessary to deploy the unit in combat. Strike group will reposition in defense of Kaga and Puller.”

Phillips pauses and takes a deep breath.

“Major, I have no intention of leaving the Puller behind or turning tail in the face of one missile destroyer, tarball or no. I’m sending the D-Lance over to Kaga, so you boys open up that tin can if it comes to it.”

"Welp, guess that's my cue," Rej quipped as he stood up from the Terminal. He reached back to untie his ponytail and shook out his dark locks, looking back at the Major as Admiral Phillips signed off. "Wonder if it's considered rude to smoke on a boat that's on fire? Probably a little gauche, huh."

As the Major turned to lead him toward the waiting helicopter on the deck, when he was sure no one was looking, Rej would take the 9mm pistol from the nearby table and tuck it into the back of his waistband, letting his dark shirt drape over it. If possible.
